KISONGO CLINIC

Project Leader: Dr. Mwaibasa | Region: Arusha | Donor: ADRA Tanzania | Budget: $9,100 | Beneficiaries: 13,000 | 2003-Present

k1.jpgJohn Gilbert began supplying medical needs from his tent, for the villagers in Engorora, Ilkerine, Lesiraa, and Lovilukuny. Providing care for over 13,000 people, his resources were soon stretched beyond their limits. The clinic was eventually expanded and went through the leadership of several doctors.

In 1995, a new clinic was built and Gilbert came back to head the staff for several years. Currently, Dr. Mwaibasa is the clinical physician on staff. In November 2002, the Adventist Conference office turned over the project to ADRA Tanzania. Since then ADRA has been able to provide the clinic with transportation to get medical supplies, as well as funding to pay their employees.

k2.jpgAside from Dr. Mwaibasa the staff now consists of a trained midwife, Dr. Leah, a nurse, and a dentist clinician when he is in town. Kisongo Clinic has a great need for more supplies, but they do the best they can with what they have. They have worked hard to gain the trust of the villagers, some must walk 20km to receive medical attention. With your help ADRA can continue supporting this project which brings hope to so many people.
